Rebecca’s sponsored walk

Knucklas Castle Community Land Project Posted on 21 June 2015 by Kevin21 June 2015

Rebecca Morris completed the Cross Wales Walk on 20th June, and raised sponsorship donations for KCCLP.
Here is her report:

I have completed the Across Wales Walk. Forty two miles in a day – Interesting, challenging, fun, painful and I was a bit of a mess at the end but recovering slowly after fish and chips, G and T, some stretches and a good sleep. Thank you everyone who sponsored me I will be around collecting later in the week and let you know how much was raised.

Rebecca

Many thanks for this inspiring activity, Rebecca.

Sponsor a fence post !

Knucklas Castle Community Land Project Posted on 15 December 2011 by Kevin5 February 2015

You are invited to SPONSOR A FENCE POST !!

We are about to replace all the old broken fencing around our site and you might like to help us by donating £5 towards part of it. If you sponsor a post you will be able to have some brief words on it. These will be either paint stencilled or stamped on a metal plate and fixed to the post.

You could commemorate something or have some inspiring thought for every passer-by to see and contemplate. Obviously space is very limited, so just a name or a short phrase would be best, please.

Contact the Secretary by letter, email or phone to make arrangements.

Castle hill

A new view of the castle using LiDR technology has become available, look here: LiDR survey
Many thanks to Mark Walters for this new view.

It raises some interesting questions about the way the castle has been used over the many years of its existence.

We are also on the Welsh governments catalogue of heritage buildings here Coflein

Site & location

The 21 acre site, including a Cadw scheduled monument, has been bought by some philanthropic locals who are leasing it to KCCLP whilst the money is raised to purchase the site for the whole community.

Surrounding Area

Sited at the confluence of the Teme and Heyope valleys in Radnorshire, Knucklas Castle overlooks Shropshire's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Offa's Dyke and the River Teme, the border between Wales and England. This part of Wales has many delights to discover.
