Apple juice now ready

Knucklas Castle Community Land Project Posted on 17 November 2019 by Kevin17 November 2019

Apple juice now ready

There is a limited quantity (60 bottles) of KCCLP apple juice available.  The crop this year was not as good as last year and the juice we have is from apples grown in an area wider than Knucklas.  It has been bottled for us by Adam Davies in Skyborry.  Because of the scarcity we have decided in the first instance to ration distribution to 3 bottles per household.  The cost is £3 per bottle – it’s worth it for the label alone, from a painting of Knucklas by one of our members. We will be selling it (and lots of other goodies) at local markets/fairs over the next few weeks.  Come along and get what you need for Christmas time:

7th December – Castle Inn, Knucklas

14th December – Knighton Community Market

15th December – Aardvark (Brampton Brian)21st December – Knighton Community Market.

All proceeds go to KCCLP.

Castle hill

A new view of the castle using LiDR technology has become available, look here: LiDR survey
Many thanks to Mark Walters for this new view.

It raises some interesting questions about the way the castle has been used over the many years of its existence.

We are also on the Welsh governments catalogue of heritage buildings here Coflein

Site & location

The 21 acre site, including a Cadw scheduled monument, has been bought by some philanthropic locals who are leasing it to KCCLP whilst the money is raised to purchase the site for the whole community.

Surrounding Area

Sited at the confluence of the Teme and Heyope valleys in Radnorshire, Knucklas Castle overlooks Shropshire's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Offa's Dyke and the River Teme, the border between Wales and England. This part of Wales has many delights to discover.
