Knucklas Castle Community Land Project Posted on 14 March 2017 by Kevin2 August 2017

Knucklas Castle is holding an iron age themed event on 19th August.
The main attraction will be John Kenny and his carnyx. The carnyx is an iron age horn that he has reconstructed and plays – see his web site carnyx.org.uk He will be playing on the Friday evening in the Presteigne Assembly rooms and tickets are available via the Knucklas17 web site

There will also be Simon King on jazz guitar and other musicians and singers.

On the day there will be many other activities on the field – food stalls, folk music, kids games etc.

Of course we will need many volunteers to assist on the day, and also to help in the preparation and organisation. If you would like to help please contact us via the “Contact us” page or phone 01547 520263

We have decided that it is not going to be feasible to have our new “Knuckfest” event this year – sorry!

However, we are starting to plan for next year and anyone willing to help is asked to get in touch please.

A new view of the castle using LiDR technology has become available, look here: LiDR survey
Many thanks to Mark Walters for this new view.

It raises some interesting questions about the way the castle has been used over the many years of its existence.

We are also on the Welsh governments catalogue of heritage buildings here Coflein

Site & location

The 21 acre site, including a Cadw scheduled monument, has been bought by some philanthropic locals who are leasing it to KCCLP whilst the money is raised to purchase the site for the whole community.

Surrounding Area

Sited at the confluence of the Teme and Heyope valleys in Radnorshire, Knucklas Castle overlooks Shropshire's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Offa's Dyke and the River Teme, the border between Wales and England. This part of Wales has many delights to discover.
