Knucklas on BBC

A recent visit by BBC Radio Wales resulted in a 30 minute programme about Knucklas! It is here (until early July): BBC Country Focus It was initiated by Les Lumsden who is organising a walk joining all the stations on our line, and he wanted to highlight Knucklas as an attraction.

The village is in the process of becoming a tourist attraction recognised by the Welsh tourist board, and this will help.

Work days April/May

Volunteer work days are planned for:

  • SUNDAY 6 APRIL – Orchard and Allotment Work Day 10.30 am – 3pm with bread and soup provided for lunch. We need to clear weeds from around the trees, build new compost bins, transplant some damson trees, and plant a comfrey bed and a wild flower area.  Please being gloves, spades and loppers if you have them.
  • SUNDAY 27 APRIL & SUNDAY 4 MAY – Work Party on top of Castle Hill clearing gorse and blackthorn. Please bring gloves, saws and loppers (contact Lottie on 01547 528792)

Please come and help; we don’t ask often but we now need to get on with some improvements. No need to book, just come along when you can.

Heavy horse working 12-14 April

Site & location

The 21 acre site, including a Cadw scheduled monument, has been bought by some philanthropic locals who are leasing it to KCCLP whilst the money is raised to purchase the site for the whole community.

Surrounding Area

Sited at the confluence of the Teme and Heyope valleys in Radnorshire, Knucklas Castle overlooks Shropshire's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Offa's Dyke and the River Teme, the border between Wales and England. This part of Wales has many delights to discover.

KCCLP is a transition project encompassing archaeology and local history, nature conservation, woodland with public access, education, allotments, sculpture & art, poetry, community orchard, village green and heaps of strong community spirit. The funds for this important community project are being raised through the sales of shares and donations. You can buy a share and help in many ways. Registered Community Benefit Society no. 30635R
