KCCLP Talk – Wednesday 22nd February

Just to remind you all that KCCLP are very excited that  Nikki Giles, of Flint Share, will be giving a talk on Wednesday 22nd February in the Castle Inn, Knucklas at 7.30. So for all those who are interested in Community growing,  CSA’s ( Community Supported Agriculture ), making more use of pockets of land, local sustainable produce or volunteering in exchange for veg. then do come along and find out how they do it up in Flintshire.  All welcome, donation to Project.

KCCLP Rabbit Fencing Workdays

Volunteers gave more than 125 hours of their time and labour to keep rabbits out of the new allotment and growing area.   On the weekend of 21/22 January, a new rabbit-proof fence was erected around the upper part of the growing field, enabling the new allotment holders to start on their plots without the risk of rabbits sharing their produce!  Everyone worked really hard and homemade soup and bread kept the volunteers going and warded off the cold winds.  A big thank you to everyone - it was a great weekend.  And thanks to Powys Environmental Partnership who funded the materials.

New fencing

The site has now been fenced all along our boundaries with our sheep-owning neighbours! This will allow proper control of the grazing on the hill and reduce the damage done by over use by the animals.

Thanks to Mark Morgan for the very efficient erection of this fence!

Part of the cost is covered by Better Woodlands for Wales and Cadw, whom we thank for their support.
