Hello, I am writing to let you know I am doing a domestic firewood survey on behalf of Llais y Goedwig. I am trying to enlist member groups to undertake the survey within their own communities. This will involve members volunteering to do about 200 door to door surveys, do you think your group would be interested in doing this. It needs to happen this month! Let me now if you think this is something you would like to be involved with?

 Knucklas Castle Community Land Project

Have 2 full size and one half allotment still available!

The full sized plot is in the new field and will need digging over completely.The other plots were cultivated last year and will involve less work!!  Start now it is not too late!!

They are £30 a year for a plot (10 m X 6metres) and £15 for half this size.

“Fools on the hill” is what we are calling it, because it is on Sunday April 1st, in the afternoon.
It will be quite low-key; come to the orchard, meet some nice people, bring a picnic, perhaps something to share, and relax, explore the hill, the orchard and the allotments.

We are about to replace all the old broken fencing around our site and you might like to help us by donating £5 towards part of it. If you sponsor a post you will be able to have some brief words on it. These will be either paint stencilled or stamped on a metal plate and fixed to the post.

You could commemorate something or have some inspiring thought for every passer-by to see and contemplate. Obviously space is very limited, so just a name or a short phrase would be best, please.

Have you seen our Allotment Open Day filmed by Anthony Palmer?  The video was picked up from our website by a charity media organization called The Media Trust who are about to launch a community TV programme called UK360 on 29^th November.  Our video is now on the UK360 Facebook wall and to be broadcast on the 29^th November on the Community TV Channel it needs to get the most “Likes”.   If you’ve got a Facebook account you can help us win the competition by adding a “Like” to our video.  See us on http://www.facebook.com/pages/UK360/288502334511698 and click on Like.  (At the moment the video’s about 3^rd down from the top but may move down the Wall as more are uploaded).   Thanks for your support!

Come and join in the fun in Knucklas during 16 to 23 October 2011

Knucklas residents are preparing for a week of fun as part of  Powys Arts Month.  Our week kicks off with KCCLP’s 3rd Apple Day  celebrations on Sunday 16th October from 1pm to 5pm in the Community  Orchard.  During the afternoon there will be apple pressing, ‘Made in Knucklas ‘ refreshments and an Orchard Fruit cake competition as well as the opening of The Knucklas Castle Sculpture Walk with a live performance art event ‘Birdsong’ in the woods plus the recently installed  “Poems in the Undergrowth” trail from Marches Poets (see earlier post).
From 17^th to 23^rd October there are Open Studios at  Upper House and Castle Hill Pottery and Artist in Residence Lois Hopwood will be at St David’s Church, Heyope.
On 22^nd and 23^rd October there is a folk music weekend ‘ Folk Down The Track ‘ at the Castle Inn with a Ceilidh at the Community Centre  on the Saturday night and Fleur de Lys are giving a performance of  medieval music at the church on Sunday night.
Do come and visit Knucklas anytime during the week, remember you can always come on the train.
